The Cleveland Cavaliers are off to their best start in franchise history and have won eight straight games — all by 12 points or more — to tie an NBA record that most people didn’t know existed.

Cleveland routed the Charlotte Bobcats 94-74 Saturday night in the Queen City. The blowout meant both LeBron James and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were on the bench in the fourth quarter and unable to set franchise records in steals and rebounds. James is tied with Mark Price for the all-time Cavs record in steals and Ilgauskas is four behind Brad Daugherty as Cleveland’s career leader.

“Teams are having a hard time scoring on us, on the road and at home,” Ilgauskas said after the game.

James is clearly setting that tone. A night after holding Indiana’s Danny Granger to four points, James helped limit Charlotte’s second-leading scorer, Gerald Wallace, to one point on 0-of-6 shooting. “I took the challenge once again, like I did last night with Danny,” James said. “My teammates helped me out. It wasn’t just me.”
